I can almost smell Charlotte's cooking! I am in Wabash, IN after a rather cool ( thanks Marsha ) morning. Got in 60 miles before noon and 85 total for the day. Nothing exciting about the ride, but I did make friends with 5 turkeys. I think they are members of the Indiana Hoosier cheerleading squad. These ladies were in a little field and when I stopped to look at them, amazingly, they came walking towards me. I'm just an animal magnet! Maybe they thought I was an old Tom! Then I was peddling by this house and heard some real loud noises. When I turned to look I saw all these big birds in a caged in area attached to a house. Let me tell ya this was fun! All of these guys could talk and I had a ball with them! One told me i was cute. He said , "You're a cuty" This lady had 67 exotic birds and 11 dogs. Crazy! Tomorrow I will go to Monroeville , IN and then make an assault on Ohio. It's hard to believe I'm almost home! I am already planning my next adventure! Thought maybe the beach with Charlotte might be a good start! Maybe even go camping!! ;-) Brenda, the guy at the house was not a barber or I would have gotten my hair cut! I hope all of you have enjoyed your summer! It will be good to get home and have a few days before Bill and Jenny put me to work. I can't wait for the opening school meetings. It always gives me a chance to day dream about cycling adventures and stuff! Take care and see ya all soon!

  1. Randy, I'm guessing that you will be here on Thursday or Friday; there's no way it will take you til Saturday if you can already smell Charlotte's cooking. (We all know what a great cook she is and you are bound to be tired of eatin' on the run.) Have you got your order in for a special favorite meal? No turkey, though, out of respect for those cheerleading friends you made today.
The Ohio River will be a welcome site, now won't it! Can't wait to know you are back home!!!!

    Randy,

Alberto Contador did win the Tour De France for Spain and you are winning your Tour De America. Continue the great determination.
Hopefully, your riding weather is on the cool side. I have been in Charlotte, NC and Atlanta, Georgia helping my niece move. The heat index has been 108 - 110. In a few minutes I plan on going out for a run (jog )in the heat. I will think of you riding and when I begin to overheat ( which will be immediately )I will think of you riding and that will be incentive for me to finish my run.
Have a great day. Continue to fly like an eagle, and keep your eyes on the STEEPLE.
You can now see the entire church from the tip of the cross on the steeple to the entrance to the front door as well as the landscaping.

By the way, I am one of the facilitators for August 18th, so I'm sure we'll have time for you to tell us all about your trip. We can use "technology"! LOL - Be safe and see you soon! Randy,

Been following your admenture with Colleen and find it very exciting. I can relate a little to your ride but nothing close to what you have accomplished. I can show you a couple of trout streams in Montana that may make you change your mind. Keep Pedalling!
